Welcome to this week’s #CrisisRoundup!
It seems that the change in season and/or my busy schedule has caught up to me. I’ve been sick with a head cold all week and it’s driving me crazy! However, I have little to complain about compared to those continuing to suffer from Ebola all around the world.
Speaking of which, as I suggested in this post, if you haven’t been following the CDC’s crisis communication on the subject of Ebola, I definitely recommend you doing so. They’ve been doing a great job at communicating their important messages in a timely and compassionate way. HOWEVER, as Ebola continues to spread on North American soil, there are a couple important questions that have yet to be answered by the CDC. If you want to hear what these questions are – and take away important lessons for your own crisis management – be sure to tune in to The Crisis Intelligence Podcast this coming Sunday!
As usual, below you’ll find my weekly #CrisisRoundup. Don’t forget to share your list of top reads of the week by using #CrisisRoundup on Twitter, or by sharing them in the comments section below.
Enjoy the reads and listen, and have a great weekend!

TCIP #019 – Emergency Management as a Field Rather Than a Profession With Dr. Thomas D. Phelan
Should emergency management be defined as a field or a profession? This is an age-old question, and one that Dr. Thomas D. Phelan and I discuss in this week’s episode of The Crisis Intelligence Podcast.
While discussing this issue, we explore how theory and practice can be combined within the classroom to provide students with the best skill-set possible as emergency managers – including those with zero tactical experience.
We also explore the emergence of new technology for emergency management and how it is presenting a drastic change and challenges – as well as great opportunities – within this field. Listen here!
